Start with the medium
The medium determines material, sealing, viscosity range and whether a gear pump, mono screw pump or three screw pump is more suitable. Always provide the exact liquid name and whether it contains solids, fibers or abrasive particles.
Confirm viscosity and temperature together
Viscosity changes with temperature. For oils, resin, asphalt and other viscous fluids, the working temperature can change the recommended pump type and motor power.
Define flow rate and pressure
Flow rate and discharge pressure are core sizing inputs. If the pipeline is long or the suction condition is difficult, include those details in the inquiry.
Choose by application
- Clean oil transfer: gear pumps or three screw pumps.
- Low-pulsation oil systems: three screw pumps.
- High-viscosity or solids-containing media: mono screw pumps.
- Heated oil-like media: heat insulated screw pumps.
- Corrosive or cleaner liquids: stainless steel gear pumps may be reviewed.
